Whether you’re searching for a savory burrito or looking to dive into the sweeter side of donuts and ice cream, you’re guaranteed to be satisfied. Below are some of Eugene’s best places to grab some grub when you’ve got the munchies. Go ahead, treat yourself!
The Dough Co.
Not only does The Dough Co. serve up the best calzones around, it’s also home to the perfect combo: warm cookies and milk. For just $7.50, you can receive a piping-hot calzone delivered to your doorstep. Among The Dough Co.’s most requested calzones are the Potato and Bacon calzone, filled with bacon, potatoes and cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, and the Broccoli and Cheddar calzone. For $6, you can receive a batch of four cookies. Choose from flavors including chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar and oatmeal. It gets even better! Whether you want all the fixings or you like to keep it simple, Burrito Boy has it all. If you’ve got a case of the super-munchies, try a Chile Relleno or Taquito Combo Plate. Burrito Boy also has an impressive array of side and snack items, which are perfect for a lighter pick-me-up. The quesadillas and nachos are great choices, especially for those wishing to forego meat. Burrito Boy is located at 510 E. Broadway and is open 5 a.m. – 12 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday, 24 hours a day from Wednesday through Saturday and 12 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Sunday.
Sy’s New York Pizza
If you live close to campus and are craving an authentic slice of New York-style pizza, stop by Sy’s. Enjoy a slice of your favorite pie or grab a whole pizza and enjoy it in a casual, chilled-out setting. Sy’s also sells garlic knots alongside their renowned pizza, which are the perfect fix for an intense case of the munchies. Whole Foods Market Hot Bar
Health-conscious cannisseurs can conquer the munchies, too! The Whole Foods Market Hot Bar offers a variety of options, from salads and vegan mashed potatoes, to roasted chicken and macaroni. Whole Foods Market is conveniently located near The Hub and is a short distance from campus, making it a viable dining option for students. Choose to eat in the bright, modern eating nook located near the Hot Bar, or purchase the food to go. Pro tip: it’s best to hit the Hot Bar in the afternoon and earlier in the evening, as the food tends to be the freshest then. Whole Foods Market is located at 353 Broadway, and is open 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., seven days a week.
Cheba Hut is the perfect spot to grab some grub in a relaxed, cannabis-inspired environment. With over 30 “toasted” subs and a variety of “cotton mouth cures,” Cheba Hut is guaranteed to curb even the most extreme case of the munchies. Try Cheba Hut’s Dank sub, featuring marinara, Genoa Salami, pepperoni and provolone cheese, or the White Widow sub, featuring grilled chicken breast covered in ranch dressing, mushrooms, bacon and provolone cheese. Cheba Hut also offers many vegetarian options as well, including the Magic Mushroom sandwich filled with portabella mushrooms. Stop by Prince Pucklers for a late night snack that is guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth. With an outdoor patio, it’s the perfect spot to hang out during the warm evenings of spring term. Explore a wide variety of gourmet ice cream flavors such as Peppermint Stick, Green Tea, Salted Caramel and Red Raspberry Cheesecake. Prince Pucklers’ Euphoria Ultra Chocolate Sundae, a cult favorite topped in warm dark chocolate sauce, is guaranteed to please. Dairy-free options are also available. Prince Pucklers is located on 19th and Agate, and is open daily from 12 p.m. – 11 p.m.
When the munchies strike, head to Voodoo Doughnut for a classic Voodoo Doll doughnut filled with raspberry jelly or the ultra-delicious, fruit-loop covered The Loop doughnut. The menu is affordable and the downtown location isn’t too far from campus. Visit Voodoo Doughnut and order the Maple Blazer Blunt doughnut, a doughnut rolled into a blunt shape and covered in cinnamon sugar, with a tip dipped in maple frosting and red sprinkles. Voodoo Doughnut is located at 20 E. Broadway and is open 24 hours Thursday through Sunday and 6 a.m. – 12 a.m. Monday through Wednesday.
Uly’s Taco Shack
Although a popular spot for those who have the “drunchies” after a night at the campus bars, Uly’s is also a satisfying grub option for the munchies. If you find yourself near campus on Friday or Saturday night, you can expect to find the Uly’s Taco Shack food truck parked across the street from Taylor’s Bar from 10 p.m. – 3 a.m. Be sure to order the ever-popular Trifecta which includes one of each taco from the menu. Even though the menu is small, the portions are satisfying. Uly’s Taco Shack is located at 894 E. 13th Ave and is open from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
Maple Garden Chinese Restaurant
Takeout food: the stereotypical “munchie meal,” for good reason. When you’ve got the munchies, you need a quick, convenient and delicious cure. Maple Garden serves up quality, authentic Chinese food at affordable prices, making it a perfect option for those with refined tastes but a college student’s budget. Try the Szechuan Spicy Beef Noodles if you’re looking for a kick. If you’re feeling mellow, try any variation of Chow Mein and a side of Pork Egg Rolls or Veggie Spring Rolls. McMenamins E. 19th Street Cafe
If a warm basket of tater tots and a cozy atmosphere appeals to you, look no further. McMenamins East 19th Street Cafe offers a relaxing space to hang out and eat delicious food with friends. Whether you’re ready to chow down on a burger or prefer hummus and pita bread, McMenamins will fulfill your munchie needs. Check out its happy hour from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. and after 10 p.m., where you’ll find discounted food and drinks.
