October is so many things: harvest time for growers, spooky season and Halloween, as well as Kinktober – a time for all things kink and BDSM. So, you can only imagine how much I love this month as a Halloween-loving, witchy, stoner sex educator! Going out to search for the strain of the month, my only mission was to find something that matched the vibes of this month. I will admit, I didn’t have the highest hopes for finding something that would speak to everything I love about the month of October. So, you can imagine my surprise when I walked into Amazon Organics dispensary on a gloomy Friday afternoon and saw a hybrid strain named Gooch Goblin on the screens!
You may be wondering how a strain named Gooch Goblin meets the vibes of October; let me explain. Gooch is also a slang term for excellent or awesome, which I think is always a good sign when it comes to flower. Now, Goblin is pretty self-explanatory in terms of its connection to the Halloween vibes, but it is also a great description of me after a good smoke session. I become a snack goblin when the munchies hit, so overall, Gooch Goblin is a prime strain for the vibes of October.
I saw “Gooch Goblin” flashing on the screen, similar to how Beetlejuice’s name flashed when he first made his appearance in the movie. Based on the name and price alone, I had no hesitation in my voice when I asked the budtender for a eighth. Gooch Goblin is an indica-leaning hybrid at 27% THC, with caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene terpenes. It is a crossbreed of RS11 and Drippin’ Ain’t Easy. When I got home, I gleefully popped open the plastic canister and was blown away by the aroma of Gooch Goblin. It has a depth of smell that is a mix of woody, herby, and subtly sweet. Its aroma kind of makes me think of a wood nymph that smells like cinnamon when they twirl; I don’t know how else to describe it. My husband described the scent as earthy, spicy, and citrusy, while my best friend said it was dank, earthy, and citrusy.
For me, the Gooch Goblin gave me the most embodied high I’ve had in a while. That wasn’t the case for my husband, who felt relaxed but had no other physical sensations. My best friend, Heidi, was similar to me, feeling quite floaty after smoking the Gooch Goblin. If you have been looking to feel more in your body, then Gooch Goblin might be just what you need.
Smoking Gooch Goblin was nice, smooth, and easy, so much so that I was worried it wasn’t going to hit hard. I was extremely mistaken, which came back to bite me with the intense cottonmouth that followed. I was fighting to open my mouth and talk; it had me feeling like my mouth was the desert you have to cross to get to Hamunaptra. So take this as a warning to have your water or some other beverage prepared ahead of enjoying some Gooch Goblin. One of the most surprising experiences with Gooch Goblin is that it didn’t lead to the strongest munchies, which I know my husband appreciated. If you are looking for a strain that will get you in your body, dry out your mouth, but keep the munchies at bay, while leaning into the vibes of Spooky season (and Kinktober), I highly recommend Gooch Goblin!
