Osteria DOP is a welcoming southern Italian restaurant on Oak Street that makes for a flavorful date night, graduation dinner or solo pick-me-up. You can choose your own adventure between outdoor, dining room or seating at the intimate chef’s table, where mounds of pasta, bags of flour and bowls of garnishes are married right in front of your own plate. The titular “DOP,” tiled in large font on the prominent wood-fire oven in the restaurant’s center, stands for Denominazione d’Origine Protetta, or “Protected Designation of Origin” – the regulated seal of regional origin for traditionally-produced Italian ingredients. The Green Eugene staff visited Osteria and ordered Spaghetti ala Nerano, Olives, Porcini and Bianca Pizzas.
