There are so many stereotypes and tropes around bisexuality, and while I don’t support putting people into boxes, I will admit that I leaned hard into the “bisexuals are chaos agents and indecisive” box when I ventured to Old School Bliss. So, in honor of Pride month, I decided to have at it with my chaotic bisexual energy and not make a firm, singular decision. This month’s strain is actually two strains–a double hitter of a high, if you will.
I ventured into Old School Bliss on a whim when I randomly remembered that I was out of flower one afternoon. The setup was very minimal in the dispensary, with the flower in small jars in a glass case. I am typically a ‘choose by smell’ girly, and so when both the Blue City Diesel and Jager 41 tickled my nose with delight, I said, “What the heck, why choose just one?!”
The Blue City Diesel had a slight gas-y smell, which I will admit is what I loved. What can I say, I love the smell of gasoline! It also had a fruity aroma, which made the strain’s overall smell unique and piqued my interest. Blue City Diesel is an indica-leaning hybrid bred from Blueberry and NYC Diesel at 19.68% THC. Jager 41 is also an indica-leaning hybrid with 26.78% THC. While the lineage of this strain has been hard to pin down, it is from the Jager strain and is crossed with either Gelato 41 or Area 41, hence the name — Jager 41.
I packed my titty cocktail, as I like to call it, because it was in my double titty bowl (it’s literally two bowls that look like breasts — nipples included) with one strain in each bowl. I took a hit from each strain individually, then took a double hit from both bowls at the same time. While I had high hopes of an out-of-the-park hitter with these two strains, it didn’t meet expectations. Now, that’s not to say I had a bad time with the strains, I just would not recommend it if you are looking for something that lulls you into a deep slumber, which is what I was after. I did feel a prime level of relaxation from the double hitter, though.
After the first few minutes, I felt the tension in my shoulders melt away, and honestly, any strain that can do that for me is a winner in my book. Within 15 minutes, I had hit that level of relaxation, which my roommate says is a clear indicator that I have smoked. My laugh was lighter, and my mellowness was heightened. So, if you, too, are tense and uptight (be it from grad school or the state of the world), you might want to consider a strain cocktail of Blue City Diesel and Jager 41 for maximum relaxation. Or you could just try one at a time and see how they do for you, but I highly recommend it if you are looking for some relaxation with your smoke session.
Please note that I do not recommend mixing strains (or different altering substances) if you are not someone who is well-versed and educated about cannabis, and if you do not have the proper safety measures prepared. Be sure to smoke with people you know and trust, and I would recommend smoking at home, but if you do smoke somewhere else, be sure to have a designated driver or order yourself a rideshare. Safety is paramount, especially when you become a mad scientist and start mixing strains or other modes of consumption in a session.
