A morning toke means morning munchies, so I was on the hunt for some breakfast food to satiate my hunger. I knew that I had to have something delivered, so I turned to GrubHub’s breakfast section. I knew I wanted something comforting for breakfast, and as a Southern gal, Hey Y’all immediately grabbed my attention.

I did a once-over of the menu before narrowing down my choices to three items: the Hog Wild Jam Sandwich, the biscuits & gravy, or the biscuit sandwich. I ended up choosing to do a half order of the biscuits and gravy and the biscuit sandwich, which I got with sausage, cheddar cheese, a fried egg, and hot honey bacon jam. Since I was ordering this to be delivered, and they are located in the northwest part of Eugene, I prepared myself for some disappointment. Let me tell you…I was not disappointed AT ALL! The food arrived, and it was still hot. It smelled so delicious as I opened the bag that my hunger tripled instantaneously.
I started with the biscuit sandwich and good googly moogly. The biscuit was divine! It was soft and warm and tasted so good. It was flavorful, but not too much that it cancelled out everything else. The fried egg was true perfection (and that is saying something because I am picky about my eggs). The sausage and cheese were delicious, but the hot honey bacon jam took this sandwich to another level! This sandwich was so good that I did not put it down once. I held it in my hand, afraid to let anyone else even have a chance to steal the deliciousness away from me (there was no one around to do that, but it was so good I had to protect it from fictional flavor thieves). In what would be considered record time (at least for me), I demolished that sandwich and was so wonderfully satisfied. So much so that I didn’t have room to eat the biscuits and gravy.
I put the biscuits and gravy in the fridge and made a mental note that I would have that for breakfast the next day. I also did this with the expectation of being disappointed, because most biscuits don’t reheat well. And once again, Hey Y’all got me good, because those biscuits reheated excellently! They were still soft and delectable the next day, and the sausage gravy kept its correct consistency, even after being refrigerated and reheated. As someone who is very particular about her biscuits and gravy, I can say that these are some of the best I have had since moving to the West Coast. They had a slight bite to them because of the amount of pepper in the gravy, but it worked well and greatly complemented the sweetness of the biscuits. The half serving was also the perfect amount to be fully satisfied in terms of breakfast.
If you are a breakfast food lover or just looking to try some good Southern dishes, you definitely need to check out Hey Y’all! I will say, it is probably a better move to go and pick up your food from the truck yourself than having it delivered, because the delivery fees through Grubhub essentially doubled the costs. But regardless of whether you have it delivered or you pick it up yourself, I can confidently say that your munchies will be satisfied and your tummy extremely happy.
